Five Facebook Rules I Follow

Rule No. 01 Don't be a bully

Facebook is indeed a great way to get our voices heard and our opinions read, but somehow, nakakalimutan nating mag-preno kapag ang emotions ang nangingibabaw. Let's say we focus on what has been done wrongly instead of hitting the other person below the belt.

Rule No. 02: No to excessive narcissism

Fact: selfies are a great way to show how you used or wasted your time. One, two selfies at a time, okay. And selfies in the bathroom, selfies in bed #justwokeup #selfie or those selfies in the nude are plainly in poor taste.
Remember, what we post now may come back to haunt us for the rest of our lives.

Rule No. 03: No to online plagiarism

Let me tell you someone who copied a phrase in my Mothers' Day post on facebook. That post is a poem for Moms and in that poem there's a line which says: " And you have and will always love us beyond measure."
That line, I saw it a couple of hours in one of my facebook friends' status, she got several likes for it. Someone even commented on her post: " True, ang love ng mga Nanay hindi masusukat."
I was hurt by what she had done.
Remember if you are to get somebody's statement, make sure you credit that person or SIMPLY USE YOUR OWN WORDS. Hind yung nagnananakaw ka ng idea ng ibang tao para maging impressive lang ang post mo sa facebook. It goes without saying that claiming the statement of others to be yours is simply being insensitive and disrespectful.

Rule No. 04: Let's be careful out there

Don't put your mobile number and your email address for all the world to know, on facebook. Do not be too specific as to where you are, or where you're headed next. It goes without saying that facebook brings loved ones, friends, acquaintances or even strangers closer together, but the site can be a source of ill-intentioned strangers to take advantage of you. Personal safety and security should be your priority.

Rule No. 05: Be alive, don't be a zombie

Remember the main purpose of facebook as mentioned in rule #04. Therefore your online life is only a reflection of your real life. Enjoy the goodness around you first, instead of making your life "look good" online.
Finally, make sure that who we are online must only be a reflection of who we are in real life. Let's all get real.
